Who We Are


Lynda MacPherson#

About: Lynda has been the manager of Stepping Stone for the past sixteen years. She lives in Knebworth, is married to Stuart and has two grown up sons. She is a self confessed cat lover and has two 'fluffies' of her own  - Otto and Billie Blue. She has worked in a special care baby unit, day nurseries and various  nursery schools. She has run an after school club but loves the nursery aged children best.

Likes: She loves all sorts of art and craft activities, enjoys cooking and is partial to the occasional shopping trip.

Ambition: To write children's stories and get published and  see more of the world.

Sue Clark#

About: Sue is married to Terry and they have two grown up children and one son still at secondary school. Sue's daughter came to Stepping Stone back in 1995 and Sue was part of the very first management committee. In a past life (before children) Sue worked in accounts. She was the 'after school club' breakfast club leader at Knebworth School and is the deputy manager here at Stepping Stone.

Likes: She loves knitting and sewing, motor sport and moto GP. She has Misty the cat and two chickens.  Doris Day is her hero and just loves a really juicy murder novel.

Ambitions: Run in the London marathon and drive an F1 car.

Lisa Geary#

About: Lisa is married to Graham and has two daughters, both girls go to Knebworth School. Lisa lives in Knebworth and has a cat called 'Inky'. She worked at 'Fira' in Stevenage up until 1999. She was the manager at the L/A fitness creche then went on to work at Knebworth Pre School.

Likes: Lisa likes to read and is hooked on researching genealogy.

Ambitions: She would love to visit Australia one day and is going to become a Guide leader here in Knebworth.

Jo Staddon#

About: Married to Ian and living in the village with a son and  a daughter, who both came to Stepping Stone and now go to Knebworth School. Jo is also mum to 'Jessie' the cocker spaniel, 'Molly' the cat and kittens 'Max' and Lola'. Jo would come and help out here at school and really got hooked. So much so, that she has completed her NVQ2 and has nearly completed her level three.

Likes: In the little bit of spare time that she has, she likes to make jewellery and go swimming.  

Ambitions: Jo wants to continue here at Stepping Stone as well as work with children with special needs.

Elaine Gregory#

About: Elaine is mum to one son, who has just left Stepping Stone and  she lives in a village on the outskirts of Stevenage. Elaine was on the management committee throughout the time that Sam was here and decided that this was the type of work she wants to do. Elaine has just started studying for her Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce.  She has completed a short 'early years' course and has now nearly finished her NVQ2.

Likes: She is very 'arty crafty' and is creative by nature. She is looking forward to decorating the school for special occasions and preparing the craft activities.


Nicki Payne#

About: Nicki is married to Barry and has two children, Thomas and Maddison.  She worked as a nanny before having her family.  She has now acheived her Levels two and three in childcare.

Likes: Nicki is a member of a local quiz team.  She enjoys a range of craft activities.  She loves spending her free time on day trips with her family.

 

Weatherby Bear#

Weatherby BearAbout: Weatherby  left the Peruvian Jungle 17 years ago in order to come and play with the children. He is 4 years old and has an official birthday on the 28th April. He works hard at making friends and enjoys going home with the children to share in their adventures. He is very famous and is recognised by lots of people who used to come to Stepping Stone no matter where he goes. He keeps in touch with his brother 'Sunny' and his cousin 'Snowy' as well as his Grandpa 'Windy'.

Likes: His favourite food is birthday cake and peanut butter. He loves football.

Ambitions: He dreams of playing for West Ham when he is older.
