Curriculum

We have a structured curriculum that is devised to meet the diverse needs of each individual child by recognising that every one of us learns at a different rate and in different ways and that all areas of learning are equally important and inter-connected. We are here to encourage and develop the child's hunger for knowledge.

The principles which guide the practice in the 'early years foundation stage curriculum are built on the needs of the child being recognised and met. It recognises that each child is a unique learner who can become strong and independent when learning in a safe, and loving setting. Each child will develop at his/her own pace guided by their different beliefs and interests and each area of learning is equally important and all are inter-connected.

Play underpins all the delivery of all the EYFS and here at Stepping Stone, children have the opportunity to play indoors and outside. Coming to school must be a pleasurable experience for a child and we think that we have the recipe for happy children.

We offer:

Here at Stepping Stone, we understand that each child is embarking on an individual learning journey that is special and unique and the 'right' of every child.

Planning

Curriculum planning is done only half a term in advance in order to cater to the needs of each individual child. We work to an exciting theme in which we can incorporate all areas of learning in a fun and enjoyable way whist including all the areas of learning. Themes include: dinosaurs, growing things, transport. My best friend, building, food. Animals etc

All of our themes are backed up by visits from local people eg abee keeper. We hold many events e.g sponsored bike ride and have a school trip in the summer. All these things back up our learning plan and link closely to the early years foundation stage.
